Personally I don't find Cory Bernardi much of an asset for the Coalition. To suggest that supporters of availability of abortion for women are "pro death" is emotive and unnecessary.
I don't know a single woman who would regard abortion as any sort of valid alternative to contraception. For him to make any such suggestion will alienate many women, and men also, for that matter.
I have no interest in defending Bill Shorten or any other Labor politician, but think he has the right to protest against Bernardi's remarks.
