Nuclear is currently the best short term solution in combating climate change, while at the same time rolling out current renewable technologies (ie wind, solar, etc.) and also developing new renewable energies.
However in Australia nuclear is not required. We have an incredible supply of wind, solar, geothermal, etc that we don't need to build nuclear power stations. For instance, during December in South Aus, there was a day when the wind farms generated 75% of the power consumed.
The demand for power in Aus is not expected to increase significantly in the short term. This is due to people being more energy conservative, an increasing cost of power, heavy industry closing down (ie manufacturing which has always been the biggest consumer).
Having said this, the situation is different for other countries around the world. Take Switzerland for example, they have have no wind, and no solar, so what should they do? Or look at Iceland, who is 100% run off green energy and due to this they produce a lot of Aluminium which is a very heavy consumer of power.
Anyway, Uranium and therefore PEN still have a strong business case, but it's product won't be consumed in Aus.
Butchy.
