The Australian market closed flat down 1 point. Materials mostly weaker falling 0.6% while Energy rebounded to close up 0.4%. Consumer Staples and Healthcare were also stronger up 0.5% and 0.6% respectively.
Investors remain nervous ahead of Chinese economic data to be released later this week and early next week. Amongst the large caps AMP was up 1.1% while Newcrest was down nearly 2%. RIO was off 1% while BHP closed 0.5% lower. Banks were mixed with CBA up 0.2% while all the others fell between 0.1% to 0.5%.
The Australian dollar is currently trading at 0.8926 US dollars. Against other currencies the AUD is at; 0.6548 Euros; 0.5438 Pounds; and 93.702 Yen.
