the death of squash

I thought I'd post this in General as it's not really about any particular game or team etc.

Once upon a time, my father owned a large squash and tennis facility in Northmead, Sydney. I was a squash brat. In 1976 Northmead held the Australian Open and I drove with my dad to Parramatta to pick up then world champion and worlds fittest man Geoff Hunt and bring him back to the courts.

I played State grade squash at both junior and senior level and represented Australia at U17 level travelling to Malaysia.

For the past couple of years I've been playing once a week with friends but our courts at Concord have now closed down. The closest Sydney court is now over the other side of the bridge. I think there's only 1 or 2 left in Sydney. We've given up trying to locate somewhere suitable.

Such a sad state of affairs. There used to be courts everywhere.
It's a great game and a great workout. What went wrong?
