Bobminer, you may be a leftie and there would be plenty of "lefties" that agree with you, but unfortunately the judicial system is filled with them and I'm fed up with lenient sentences, excuses and the perps constantly made out to be victims of life.
I'm already reading how this sentence will be different and that this is a chance to make an example of the perpetrator. I've been hearing the exact line for the past decade.
A 19yo stabbed to death a 17yo in Sydney a few years ago. He got 18 months and was given weekend leave after a year because he was a good chance of rehabilitation.
A husband "murdered" his wife not long ago. He stabbed her 14 times and got his sentence downgraded to manslaughter and got 14 years. WHY???? Because of "provocation". She was threatening to leave him. Unbelievable!!!!
I know one thing, if those in the judicial system sat towards the centre or a little to the right, we wouldn't be seeing such weak, gutless sentences.
