"If a batsmen like Finch can get a hundred today why can't he get runs in a test match"
DS, because there is a big difference between white ball batting and red ball batting. There is also a big difference in the preparation of the pitch where a test wicket.
Bailey is the perfect example of a player who has never been able to adapt to red ball cricket and his sheffield shield averages prove that. He only got picked for the test because of his weight of runs in India.
Rogers is the perfect test opener, where he has the ability to leave balls that shouldn't be hit. He is also invaluable as he has the ability to wear off the red ball to ensure the rest of the top order are not facing a hard moving test ball.
Test batsmen need to be good on wearing wickets and therefore more versatile. One day batsmen basically play on flat tracks with even bounce and some of these batsmen excel on these types of wickets.
