There are quite a few gold cfd instruments around, I have not used the IG markets cfds for gold but have used them for other things and they have been ok.

If you are a VERY GOOD trader then a gold cfd using leverage may be an option. I don't use leverage on gold cfds anymore because as a technical trader, even when patterns look fantastic, there are too many flash crashes and take downs, very manipulated spot price and it is very easy for a market maker cfd provider to play with the synthetic price as well, you will definitely get stopped out regularly. If the fed can manipulate the gargantuan bond market using QE, manipulating smaller markets like precious metals would be child's play. Perhaps direct market access providers if you are determined to use leverage.

A much better option if you are really interested in paper gold exposure would be the un leveraged GLD etf.
