    Yes , I have been to the US and yes , most of that stuff is cheap. However , it is being achieved by incredibly low wages that are ultimately unsustainable . People on minimum wage in the US have struggled for a long time , far worse than here .

    I think you better post a link or the whole article . I find those numbers very hard to believe .

    Bottle of water ? So you're saying that the high price we pay for bottled water is wages ? Absolute rubbish.

    Your comment about returning to the 80's . Do you really want to ? Cars were crap. Travelling was much more expensive . Shops ( including petrol stations ) not open on weekends . Medical technology non existent . No mobile phones or internet . Very few freeways . Terribly hard to borrow money . I could go on....
