It's definitely a factor that has attributed to the rise. I think the main issue is that OPV contains elements of the live virus. The vaccine strain virus can then be shed in their body fluids for up to 6 weeks!
So when you factor in the poor sanitation, drinking water etc then it's no wonder the virus is being so easily transmitted.
