That's the point Free Will, if you don't want to live on the actually very generous welfare payments then get a job. There are plenty out there.
Welfare should be a temporary measure, not a lifestyle choice.
20km from the North Shore is just past Parramatta, pretty sure you can pick up a 2 bed apartment for a lot less than $350pw
