    Col94, although I agree that tougher penalties should be enforced, I think even 6 months in jail would be enough to deter most people. That's enough to disrupt someone's life and cost a hell of a lot of money etc..

    IMO people are not thinking straight when they are wildly drunk. They may not even be able to recall what they did.

    Therefore, IMO the problem lies with the fact that people are allowed and in fact ENGOURAGED to drink well into the early hours of the morning.

    What do you expect will happen?

    Yes the bars and clubs will lose 3 hours of business, but it's not going to be the end of the world for them. They might find that people will start turning up at a reasonable hour instead.

    So for me it's

    1. - Close the clubs at midnight

    2. - Tougher penalties for those that commit the crimes
