Freeway, Vietnam has probably the cheapest alcohol in the world. A Tiger beer at a 7/11 costs about 80c and they have places called Bia Hoi's where beer is about 40c a beer. Married men are the drinkers. Vietnamese women just don't drink because they associate drinking with "bad girls". Because "bad girls" are the only ones that go to clubs.
I'd say 99,9% of Vietnamese women don't drink. And young men rarely drink as well until they get into business situations or married and it becomes common.
Admittedly, the Vietnamese don't earn a lot of money, but even if you had free drinks, 99.9% of Vietnamese women would not drink.
There is a vast cultural difference. I know because i have lived the better part of a decade in Vietnam and travelled extensively through Asia.
