Sooo.. perhaps I have a little too much time on my hands this afternoon, but I listened to it. Nothing too surprising. The BRU crew did a v. good job IMO. It was good to see their opinions supported by science and fact, while the counter-arguments came across to be vague and borderline emotive. I note that the economic community benefits did not raise a mention, so the discussion focused purely on the science and community concerns.
My general impression is that BRU is doing anything and everything possible to ensure an open and transparent process. The most amusing aspect was the ABC reporter who rattled through a list of the chemical components and tried her best to make it sound dramatic! She got what I equate to a polite, nerd like slap-down from the BRU chief scientist. Boo-ya!
Ultimately, fraccing is not new. Yes, there are always risks and they need to be identified and balanced, but the mitigation measures, compliance regimes and oversight are robust.
