The audience response via social media from a few of the locals is ignorant too. The lack of respect for the Buru employees is evident via some of the recent posts I have seen. I think it's a very positive move by Buru to take the time via the public forum to try explain the steps/precautions they are taking to ensure the environment is protected. Of course nothing is ever risk free. Mining operations aren't risk free. There is risk in everything.
A lot of the attendees of that forum are very one eyed with their views. It's not going to be easy to sway their opinions. You could do everything in your power to assure them that best practice is being used and you wont sway their opinion. The only thing they want to hear is no development. No future for developments. They just want everything to remain untouched.
