Looking through the list of signatories and from my knowledge of the US scene most represent the non-evangelical denominations that would never have had much time for Israel at any time. It is the evangelical wing of the Christian Church in the US which is overwhelming pro Israel and always has been.
There are two other things which have some relevance:
1. Palestinian Christians, since that document was drafted, have been leaving Palestine in large numbers because of persecution from their Muslim countrymen. Reports confirming that were posted here some months ago.
2. This document was presented about the time the suicide bombers began to intensify raids into Israel and some of the signatories may now concede Israel's right to use some of these measures against that sort of terrorist activity.
Nearly all concede the need for the Palestinian's and the Israeli's aspirations, regarding the land, to be fairly settled. That is going to take much longer it seems than was once imagined.
