The Khar Tarvaga property, found by the late Marmot Khan, at one stage looked to me like it might become the site of a thermal power station large enough to feed the grid and Oyu Tolgoi.
Oyu Tolgoi is now drawing most of its power from China but it would be simple engineering to supply it from a nearby Mongolian coal fired power station.
My guess is the plum job of supplying Oyu Tolgoi with electricity would have to go to a national organisation for political reasons. It is high time this was decided, maybe that is who would want to buy the coal properties. Xanadu has spent tens of millions proving up Khar Tarvaga, let's hope we get more than a song for it, for our sakes, and for Mongolia's too.
