EIA AEO2014 Early Release Overview http://www.eia.gov/forecasts/aeo/er/pdf/0383er%282014%29.pdf forecasts that "Generation of electricity from solar photovoltaic energy shows the fastest growth, starting from a small base and accounting for 7.5% of total electricity generation from all nonhydropower renewable energy sources in 2040.". That's "all nonhydropower renewable", not "all".
The 2040 forecast is for renewables including biofuels to supply 12% of consumption in 2040 (Figure 8). 7.5% of 12% is under 1%, and you still have to adjust down for hydro.
Long term, solar will become very important. I won't see it happen, but my grandchildren will. In the meantime, SLX had better make the best of U enrichment.
