re: Ann: Cudeco regains 100% control of Multi... Basically it seems that rail travel is ~$16.50/tonne to Townsville, while road is ~$37/tonne.
If only CDU had more than concentrate to move, but wait!! there is this large magnetite resource, that has to be moved as part of the open pit design anyway.
If it can be beneficiated at a price of $10-20/tonne, then moved to the rail head for $10/tonne, the magnetite would have a cost of ~$36-46/tonne to port.
If magnetite fell to $100/tonne, CDU would still be making a large profit/tonne!!
In the 2013 JORC.... "47 million tonnes of magnetite grading 62% Fe*"...
So CDU could use all the 'spare capacity' at the rail siding, ship say 2m tonnes of magnetite, and pick up a lazy $100m in cashflow for the effort. We could do this for over 20 years!!
All those that see the rail siding as a bad investment, really don't see the big picture.
