Mr Gordon you havent learnt everything from someone else. Your conscious would have been present prior to the knock on the door. You had a rational mind that is naturally inquisitive and questioning.

RM, Of course I had a conscience but it was being shaped and calibrated by the environment I immersed myself in. I played soccer, rugby league, squash was in a surf club all of which regarded heavy drinking as normal.
Not surprisingly I returned a blood alcohol level of 0.295 following a car accident. I then bought a milk run so that I could pursue my goal of living off gambling while fudging my taxable income.
How well do you think my conscience was guiding me to this point?
Around this time I married & had children growing up.
What sort of an example was I for my children?
Only when I learned of Jehovah's great love for mankind & that he was willing to be my mentor (Isaiah 48:17,18) could I see the need for guidance superior to my own ideas or those with whom I associated.
I am so glad someone knocked on my door & pointed this out.
