Actually if it is done to manipulate the price, it must be illegal. Proving it is another matter. Getting the authorities to do anything about manipulation is even more difficult.
Last night despite the Chinese holiday (the worlds largest buyer not being in the market) the price of gold went back into the 1260's. This is looking very bullish for the POG IMO. Most likely thanks to weakness in other markets but I also expect traders will front run the Chinese return to the market by buying ahead of them before this week ends.
