Database lock as defined by Medical Dictionary:

A clinical trial term for an action taken to prevent further changes to the trial database. A database is locked after review, query resolution and determination that it is ready for analysis.

Query resolution as defined by Medical Dictionary:

In a clinical trial, the closure of a query based on information discrepancies and errors/inconsistencies contained in a data clarification.

For a trial such as ours, discrepancies could be highly complex. I doubt a simple date stamping issue would take a months to resolve.

The important words from above are "ready for analysis".
