Short sales data (or more importantly, the coverage ratio) is freely available on the NASDAQ web site.

I graphed and posted the info at one stage to show PRAN was not being targeted in any meaningful way by shorters, but every time the share price fell, people would just claim that it's 'tree shaking' or evil shorters (which got more thumb-up than the actual data that i was posting). I got frustrated and don't bother doing it now.
