Insider - loads of different options for this one.
I would suggest going to the Microsoft to start with and downloading their
"Windows Anti-Spyware"
You can find this at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en
There are a number of effective spyware programs, however, I have found that
1. XSoft Spy;
2. Ad-Aware; and
3. Spybot
Are all very effective in keeping the meanies at bay.
For some viruses that manage to crawl into your Java applications, you need to actually remove them manually.
Trendmicro (as already mentioned) have a good service on their site, however, if you can get some more details about the meanie, then you can plug this information in the Nortons site and they give a very comprehensive method of getting rid of these problems.
For the record, the Microsoft beta program is excellent.
