Doesn't matter what party was in power, the politician nominate an expected dividend from federal/state govt owned entities. These entities had to bear the public outrage when prices had to be increased to satisfy their demands. This happened to Telecom etc
Since privatisation, the regulator has allowed ludicrous elements within the pricing structure. A good % for salesperson to harass you. These day there is no need for payment of "spinning reserves " when excess generation exist. And you are paying for this!
It's in the interest of Electricity Industry lobby group to blame or find a scapegoat, latest is solar power. But from solar there are great saving to the community and under certain conditions would reduce the number of suburbs that needed to suffer blackouts.
Get up your local politician who is responsible for most of the price rise.
