Dex, you speak the truth.
Oil is easy, you put down your straw and load what comes out into pipelines or tankers. How easy is that? Your average taker CANNOT handle gas though so it must be a major project or no project. It galls me that China and Japan buy cheap Australian gas while industry here is starved but they had the foresight to sign the contracts when gas was cheap.
A few years ago you may remember there was a plan to pipe gas from PNG. Not enough signed up so it died on the vine. More recently the "Copper Stream" project planned to get bulk electricity from the coast to The Isa died for the same reason.
Talk about skilled, well paid jobs building infrastructure, but nobody cared. When pollies talk of jobs they are more interested in jobs for the boys.
I weep for my bloody dumb country sometimes.
