If you choose an airline because of its governments politics you arent going to see much of the world. Americans rarely leave America which is why they fly delta or United. And both of those are terrible airlines.
I choose my air travel because of the airlines safety record, the price, and the service. Qantas service is abysmal and the attendants are surly and generally unhelpful. Singapore Airlines is so much better that your comments are comical.
I have no intention of supporting qantas in its current form. I would prefer to see it merge with a bigger carrier and reduce prices. If I have to fly domestic in Australia I fly Virgin because I can get a guaranteed legroom seat and the staff dont irritate me.
If you want to be sentimental about Qantas's past quality thats great. Just dont ask the taxpayers to pay for it.
