    mickph and eistein - you obviously are not from the school of voodoo economics.

    It doesn't "save" them 106 mil, they increased fares to cover the carbon tax bill.

    Code for: a tax is not a tax if you can pass it on to your customers. It's not real money.

    The carbon tax applies to the domestic market and the domestic arm of Qantas made a 60 million dollar profit. The International arm does not have a carbon tax and suffered big losses.

    Code for: If a tax applies only to your domestic market it doesn't count in your overall results, particularly if you still manage to make a profit in that sector. It's not real money. Even if it's over $100k.

    Voodoo economists also have a problem counting over 7 - it's one of their magic numbers.
