re: on the doorsteps of a rally There is a good book you would enjoy called 'Outgrowing the Earth' by Lester Brown. This books talks about the future of food production in terms of emerging constraints, mostly water. Once you put it down you will be a rampant bull for the rest of your life. The China phenomena is having major implications for their food security. Water is being taken from farms for cities. The farm life is not as attractive as city jobs (sound familiar). Overgrazing causes desertification on 300,000 hectares a year. My prediction is that China will become a major player this year in the trade and will begin purchasing surplus to need. Yes surplus to need. Expect it sooner rather than later if we get another significant rally in the energy complex going forward. They will be followed by India and all hell will break loose on the markets.

There is also a great publication available online called the Hightower Report. Took 6 weeks to arrive but well worth it. I will scan and post some of the commentary in that. They are very bullish corn too.
