Really, the bible has stood the test of time? 41,000 Christian religions - you must surely be joking? The crusades, inquisition, despotic catholic church, new religions popping up in the US like mushrooms. Strange that the bible doesn't mention the US as the holy land.
I happen to believe the bible has stood the test of time but not in the hands of revisionists who apply all sorts of imaginary interpretations.
Evolution theories are constantly evolving only at the edges because of the wealth of material that is coming to light. The central tenet is soundly in place as you would imagine any God ordained process for the continual creation of new life would be. Evolution was not invented it was discovered. It existed before science and now its secrets are slowly being revealed. Evolution is the unfolding of Creation. It does not proceed by chance, rather it is an innate aspect of all existence, the capacity to adapt and survive in changing environments and develop towards more complex organisms.

Should you have such contempt for so-called atheists? If you believe you have discovered something that is precious to you would you not spend the rest of your life sharing this with atheists rather than mutual back massages with fellow members of your church?

I think it is the most difficult, misunderstood work ever placed before mankind, apart from James Joyces' Ulysses. If it made perfect sense there would be a single Christian church, not tens of thousands.
I find atheists are generally people who are only trying to shut out the improbable white noise of misguided religion. A person who is not capable of believing a reasonable proposition once placed before them is the rarest of beings and usually has a mental illness. Almost everybody is capable of believing in a Creative Essence, a universe created by some form of Will, but religion can be the surest form of inoculation against following up such a belief. And so people choose nothing rather than compromise their intelligence by believing in any old something.
There is abounding evidence that evolution exists. Stay abreast of the latest research. Have an open mind. View the evidence with justice not prejudice. Evolution is the handy-work of the Creative influence.
