LONDON – Genel Energy says the JM-1 well offshore Morocco has confirmed oil at the upper Jurassic level in the Cap Juby prospect.
Drilling of the current well on the Juby Maritime license, 2 km (1.2 mi) from the 1968 MO-2 discovery well, started in January.
Presently JM-1 is at a subsurface depth of 3,100 m (10,170 ft) with 600 m (1,968 ft) to drill to the prognosed mid-Jurassic primary target.
