Martis ... whilst I THINK I agree with your reasoning I don't agree(see)that ..."the close is way higher than the open." today ... not unless you think 1/2c is "way higher" OR you were actually referring to yesterday's or the day before's candle ...Even then it would be an exaggeration!
Anyway, I think the important thing today was that the late arvo's action was +ve(agree with TV this time).
