tied up all morning - maybe I've missed news updates - hope to catch up - but how come the transponder suddenly stopped operating/performing - experts say this is absolutely and extremely unusual - (if this was "just" some aeronautical fault/flaw/mishap?
and the Black Box - emits some decipherable "here I am" signal - this signal, battery powered - for 30 days? Is it? Someone said that they are.
The stories about passenger cell phones ringing, unanswered? - seems so much unsubstantiated gossip and speculation. Or even outright Malaysian and other nationals' efforts and guesses are just panicked utter chaos.
Pilots, and others, would know more than I and other unqualified do, of course. Like others, I just wonder.
What awful/tragic suspense for the waiting families, left in such agonising limbo.
If we can send man to the moon - why is there seemingly no some trace of this plane? These areas surely too thickly populated for it to have somehow landed, intact, undetected.
