SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Newcrest Mining Ltd. (NCM.AU), Australia's largest independent gold producer, said Thursday it completed commissioning of a pyrite plant at its Telfer mine in Western Australia.
"It's been commissioned and we're about to start to put ore in it; it's ready to go," chief executive Tony Palmer told Dow Jones Newswires in an interview.
Palmer dismissed rumors that the plant's commissioning was facing problems, which if sustained could have threatened Telfer's ability to meet its annual production target.
