what argument is this ???Post #: 700582

"""""""""Finally, the bonus comment, on the subject of bike lanes. I can give you five good reasons why I'm frequently not in the bike lanes. One: debris. I invite you to have a look at a bike lane sometime - a good example is on the Maroondah Highway, near Eastlink. Filled with gravel, and who knows what else. If it's just gravel, that's a braking and turning hazard (because the traction will be reduced by the gravel, depending on how thick it is.) But as a cyclist, I don't know that it's just gravel; it might be glass, metal shards, or plastic shards, that run a very real risk of puncturing my tyre, and if I'm travelling at 30kph plus, that's a major hazard - in that situation, I'd be lucky to stay on my bike. So if I see debris, I'm moving out into the next lane over (making sure it's safe to do so, of course).""""""

This is another selfishness to put another traffic users at risk for your own good, where you not supposed to be.

if there is a bike line, there is a reason for it (especially on Highways) and should be used by cyclists, cars and motorbikes can't use bike lines if it looks better than the road

If you have problem with traction reduce your speed from 30km/h to 15. Cars and motorbike have the same problems (potholes, wet surface, gravel, mud from farmers crossing the roar etc) and have to reduce speed to the weather and road conditions

No wander motorist are upset when they are stuck behind the cyclists and there is a free empty bike line

this (your) argument can be used by pedestrians, wheelchair ppl etc also and start using smooth road with the argument they can trip on uneven footpath surface .

The (video) lady on the bike is very lucky! that there was not a kid jumped quickly out of the Taxi on the footpath = she didn't ride to the high traffic conditions and didn't reduced her speed or stoped behind the Taxi.

with her aggressive high speed style of riding in heavy traffic condition, she could do someone serious bodily harm to others and with her attitude and style she is asking for trouble.

at least CTP insurance should be mandatory for all traffic users IMO

one argument here was “” there is the reduction in congestion to think of as well “”
only when cyclist using the road to go from A to B not for the sport cycling & training which should be practiced on velodrome , they are making road more congestion and harder for other working ppl who don’t have time to be stuck behind the sport lycras

other “””There are things car drivers do which are crazy and stupid, and they should be called to account for them”””

in 99% They are!! They have #plates they are not anonymous, they are loosing their points, then d.licence, paying fines and then they can’t drive on the roads without d.licence.

I don’t mind cyclists who are careful and responsible riders, but even here on HC they are pushy and demanding that they can ride where they wanted and how they wanted and there is not law for them.

They should give the lady driving test and was she breathalysed? Car driver is, when in accident.
