There is no doubt that scientific discoveries can be used for good or bad. Unfortunately the more powerful the discovery is for good, the more powerful it is in wrong hands.
We would hardly blame Boeing for the planes that were used to destroy the Twin Towers any more than we would blame Bach if people played his music so loudly as to damage people's hearing.
I'll leave the religious implications to those who have views on the topic.
