AN ENVIRONMENT group is openly boasting about driving down the share price of a Tarkine mining hopeful and a fall in mineral exploration licences.


In a "report card'' section on its website, Save the Tarkine points to a 69 per cent drop in Venture's share price in the context of its "objective'' to "deter investment in Venture Minerals''.


It talks of a 36 per cent fall in the share price since Save the Tarkine lodged a Federal Court challenge to federal approval of Venture's proposed Riley iron ore mine near Tullah.

The group's lawyers suggested the court proceedings could potentially take until August to be finalised, Save the Tarkine frontman Scott Jordan told The Advocate recently.

The court decision may come any time in that period.

Other "objectives'' listed on the Save the Tarkine website include "defer mineral exploration in the Tarkine''.

"Venture has halted all exploration activity on its ... exploration licence area,'' the website says.

"This included halting its six drill rigs.''

It also lists a one third drop in mineral exploration licences in the Tarkine since 2011
