That's an interesting article, Minerva, but there is nothing in there about 'something from nothing'.
According to the article even inflation required a particle called the inflaton - that is not 'nothing'.
In quantum mechanics particles pop in and out of existence, but, in my opinion, that is not 'something from nothing' either - these particles occur because of the energy states or quantum fluctuations in existence at the time. This is not 'nothing', again, in my opinion.
I really think this is a semantic exercise and I think people are wrong to use the term 'nothing', but it does inspire a lot of interesting debate. The problem for me is that if people keep promoting this idea of 'something from nothing' then you also need the existence of a God or some sort of supreme being as a creator... and then even that is not 'nothing'!
