No. The Opposition at the time gave the government of the day a hard time, as befits their role. They did not show the disrespect toward the Speaker that we're seeing now.
If the government adopted the same criteria as Labor did when Gillard was PM, they would now be yelling "misogyny"!
I don't have any particular liking or respect for Mrs Bishop, but now that she has been put in the position of Speaker, it's up to the Opposition to treat her with the respect that the office itself requires, rather than sooking and carrying on as they are.
When we look at our tax dollars at work here, I'm sure most of us have a feeling of complete disgust at the sort of kindergarten antics engaged in by both sides. They are a disgrace.
