This is from the Michael Smith website and sums it up beautifully
When Labor blokes do their blocks at the female Speaker it’s called passion.
But flip it around - Libs criticise a strong woman - and it’s misogyny.
Strange double standard.
Labor has been baiting Bronwyn Bishop since day one of the new Parliament. They’ve been trying to wind her up and have been pushing to build a case of ‘speaker bias’.
Today, they thought they had her and she showed them up.
Among many differences, one key seperator in this scene between Bronwyn Bishop and say Julia Gillard ... Bishop doesn't play victim.
She stood her ground. Gillard by contrast ran to the sexism corner and an obliging media took it hook, line, and sinker.
Tony Burke has dumped the Mr Niceguy thing and now actually just looks a frustrated smart arse that hasn’t realised his side lost.
Or maybe Burke just has a problem with strong women.
I agree with the above except Burke is a dumb arse rather than a smart arse
