Lucapa Diamonds applies for mining lease in Angola

Lucapa Diamond Company Limited announced that it has submitted an application for an alluvial diamond mining lease over part of the Lulo Diamond Concession in Angola.

The company’s decision to apply for the mining lease is supported by its Joint Venture partners and is a result of the high grades and diamonds values that were attained by Lucapa Diamonds through its exploration programmes within the 3 000km² Lulo concession.

The lease will cover an area of 218km², which will cover the recent alluvial and terrace deposits associated with the Cacuilo River. The company is uncertain regarding the timing in which the lease will be granted, however plans for exploration pitting and bulk sampling programmes will continue, enabling diamond deposits previously identified as targets to be converted to a Mineral Resource.
