While in the supermarket I notice a handbag in a shopping trolley and the owner is temporarily distracted while choosing a grocery item.
I pick up the handbag and walk away with it and the owner notices so I return it.
The intent is clear because a reasonable person would be entitled to assume that I intended to steal the item especially considering that I'd done this before and actually carried out my intention.
Do we place a higher value on money than on our children?
Why is it necessary to employ some form of tortured logic so that our societal mores take a backseat to the supposed cultural differences of a society that the perpetrator fled from in the first place.
