    Hi Jc,

No, I don't think it is a plus.

At present Paynesville and Raymond island, 200 mtrs across the canal with its Koala Bears and birdlife on the island is a natural wonderment.

The major problem as you have rightly pointed out is the development around the Paynesville area. Will infrastructure be in place as more and more people retire there. I hope so. To have a home on the lakes foreshore now you need at least a million plus. Yet to buy a home a couple of streets back you can still buy a house for under $300k. Unemployment is high and so is the age group. Most younger ones migrate to the cities to goto Uni or work. The Bendigo Bank just opened up there which is a big plus for the community.
However, if you love sailing and love boats then Paynesville, Metung are the places to be. People go to live there for the lifestyle change. However, what will it be like in 10 years time?

    Cheers markco
