    It is worse than slaughtering day old calves.
    Dairying farms are now run on a massive scale often milking >2000 cows.
    To rotate the heard, farms have to bring cows into production like clockwork.
    On some farms this is achieved by inducing the birth early, the unfortunate calf receives a blow to the head with a hammer at birth. The small return for handling bobby calves is sometimes uneconomic.
