I can help with the Affy question (in my own words only from my recollection);

Affy's pre aquisition intention was to use mix and go in the Pro carta range (as well as the Flowcytomics range) however after 6 months of intergration (with ebio) they moved the manufacture from California to Austria.
They (affy) also have a pre-existing deal with a leading bead manufacturer (high quality beads) and it was decided that mix and go couldnt provide enough savings charging the current price they get to warrant its inclusion by management (the scientists wanted it included.). They would therefore have to charge a higher price.

It is my impression that if they moved away from one of the leading bead manufacturers and used mix and go to enhance the quality of a lower priced bead they could get the same quality bead or better and warrant M&G inclusion. However the agreement they currently have means they cannot do the above.

I am of the understanding that the company has a multi-pronged approach to increase the usage particularly being included in the Procarta range of products.
