B007, I am still sticking to the facts, I believe.
Fact: CDU will not allow FIFO workers. If you want to work for CDU, you need to come and live here. Correct?
Fact: such a policy inevitably decreases the labour pool available to CDU, as there are plenty of people who would not consider moving their family to Cloncurry - or Chinchilla, Roma, Charleville, Darwin, Mackay, Gladstone - all friends or neighbours. Most experts in their fields. Correct? Well, you'll have to take my word for it that I know these people, but if you'd take your own advice and get out a bit then you'd find them quite easily yourself :-)
Conclusion: CDU's policy ensures that they are not giving the company the best chance of recruiting the best people. Many suitable people won't even send in their resumes. For many aspects of the plant it probably doesn't matter, but for running the Cu and Co circuits the company could well be shooting themselves in the foot with this policy, IMO.
This is certainly a bit woolier than other topics we discuss here, finances, grades, schedules etc. but really it is critical to the success of the whole project - the people make the company.
At least, if they are all speaking Chinese, they'll be able to understand the operating manuals :-))
