Dawn will see the destruction in Cooktown. A museum and at least one house have lost their roof. These were reported early in the night. Reports of no power in Cooktown, which can be expected because of tree damage.

Reports of possible 7 metre storm surge in Port Douglas have been now downgraded to 1 metre at the most.

Downgraded to category 2 now . Possibly heading to Mareeba district.
