perhaps, if Luddites had their way in Victoria - we wouldn't be lumbered with this multi-million/ billion, Tim Flannery panicked palatial de-sal plant - (the scene of many Union orgies and rorts whilst building!) - thanks to the Labor Government gong weak at the knees - in a drought - costing us millions, on top of the hugely tripled higher than estimated building costs.
Rain falling from sky, into dam, would have been a hell of a lot cheaper. Nature and heaven's usual modus operandi. And, so humanity survives.
Just had to have patience - but NO, (then) Labor Victoria blinked - and now we, our kids, our grandkids, Victorians, in oine way or another, will be paying off this monstrosity (which hasn't sold one drop of water, yet) - for decades, and decades.
By the time it does (perhaps) come to that - selling odd water, here and there, when we do find we need some - this thing will have become a rust bucket. MAYBE even to the point of needing replacement.
Daniel Andrews. Victorian Labor leader, and his whole Labor Victoria nit-picking entourage, (always whining about their successor, Dr. Napthine, and his Party, are doing) - VERY conveniently overlook this huge elephant in the room.
This ghastly financial ball and chain, around every Victorian family's feet.
Thanks, Tim Flannery. And your "Global Warming, so we'll all fry" false panic scenario. And Vic Labor - for falling for it.
Greens VERY silent on this de-sal disaster - but now griping about Sydney's second airport. SO desperately needed. That's par for the (Green/Labor) course. And of course, ABCM Age, SMH, Guardian, et al - let alone Tony Jones and his (expletive deleted) imported foreign panellist guests, telling us we're rotten) never ever mention it.
Why don't these two Parties merge, It'd be a lot more honest. Save lots of messing about. Socialists and worse Socialists - why not come out and admit it.
Leave it to readers to work out who's worst.
"Honesty" - as Billy Joel says - is such a lonely word. Hardly ever heard. How right he is.
