EASTER we stay at home these days over this very popular holiday period and leave the holidaying to others ...
easter eve, the roads are normally bulging with slowly moving traffic disgorging itself into the country side. and by evening campers are lining the rivers shoulder to shoulder on every available camping spot, and likewise the camping grounds and caravan parks are also chockers - not what we go for now.
not so long ago we had four lovely easters with friends and their families, camped on private grazing property alongside the NSW side of the MURRAY RIVER at HOWLONG.... an idyllic camping spot located on a river bend beneath some magnificent 300 year old river red gums, and with our camping area having been freshly mown prior to our arrival.
our camp fire went almost continuously, our focal point for community cooking, chatting and continuous hot water.
