    Because he is the Premier of WA and has been spruiking this project for a long time, that's why. And it would be great for the region and the many miners if it was built.

    Errrm, no they're not. Rio Tinto is the biggest IO carrier in Australia via train, BHP is second biggest.
    They both own and operate their own railway lines.
