The only big difficulties I really see with relocating to Asia for retirement comes down to access to & the quality of healthcare as age moves forward. Not really an issue at early retirement & if you are both in good health without need for any ongoing medical obligations then not an issue but might be at a later date. Bali is probably one of the best options with ease of travel back to Australia if needed.
Only other thing & not knowing your financial position is whether you are self funded or will be claiming a government pension ? I'm pretty sure with the later it can be affected once out of the country for over 6 months although not sure to what degree & if you can just take a flight to reset that ?
